EverythingMe Launcher viene abbandonato dagli sviluppatori, il software premiato con i titoli “The 2014 Weeby Award” e “People’s Voice Award” è giunto al capolinea dopo tre anni.
Queste le parole degli sviluppatori di Everytingme Launcher riguardo l’abbandono del progetto:
“Three years ago we took on a great mission – making smartphones smarter. The vehicle was a launcher and the method was contextuality, learning the user’s habits and surfacing the right thing at the right context, keeping Android phones strong and simple while significantly improving its user experience.
The launcher was a great success. 15 million people from around the world installed and used EverythingMe in the past two years – smartphones were actually smarter and we had the pleasure of seeing our vision come to life and get your love. Some of our core features started appearing in other launchers and operating systems that started offering strong in-phone search and automagically organized smart folders™ as part of its built-in offering.
EverythingMe’s revenue model assumptions were based on contextual discovery – you get app and content recommendations that are relevant for you at the right time and place. The #’s we’ve shown were breaking all industry benchmarks, but growing in emerging markets meant we couldn’t convert this value-added discovery to significant income for the company to keep pursuing its vision and build its product.”
Come potete leggere, l’intento del team di sviluppo era rendere gli smartphone Android semplici ma, allo stesso tempo, migliorare notevolmente l’esperienza finale per l’utente.
A seguire dichiarano che, il progetto ha avuto un notevole successo ma essendo cresciuti in un mercato emergente è difficile per loro considerare questa aggiunta come un guadagno utile allo sviluppo delle idee della compagnia.
Ricordiamo comunque che EverythingMe launcher è stato premiato più volte durante il corso dei suoi tre anni di vita, facendosi spazio in breve tempo tra i launcher disponibili per Android grazie alla sua capacità predittiva.
In ogni caso tutto questo durerà a breve in quanto è stato dichiarato che entro pochi giorni ogni servizio fornito da EverythingMe verrà interrotto. Il team del software, in una postilla a fondo pagina, si impegna a non abbandonare l’ambiente di sviluppo e a portare qualche altra novità al più presto.
